Building Bridges

  • Groups are Lead by Psychology Resident: Dr. Anna Shtrauh; Under the supervision of Dr. Sheba Katz
  • 5-Week Group
  • Sliding Scale based on income ($25 to $65 per session)
  • Screening and Intake conducted prior to group.

This parent group is focused on recognizing past parental trauma and how it is passed on through generations. It focuses on ways to “break the cycle” by engaging parents in the exploration of their own emotional world and patterns, in order to create more positive relationships between parents and their children. In this way, the children benefit tremendously, as the parents learn to become more mindful and present, compassionate, less stressed, and more supported by their community.

This research-based group was originally developed by Dr. Vilma Reyes with Child Trauma Research Program at University of California, San Francisco.

Find Compassion

Parents with childhood trauma struggle with self-compassion and compassion fatigue toward their children. This group teaches resiliency skills for targeting this emotional struggle.

Feel Support

Parents build a support system in a nonjudgmental place.  They foster positive relationships with other group members while learning to take those support skills home to their children.

Be Present

Weekly sessions rehearse mindfulness practices in each session. Participants learn how to be present and foster inner stillness, ultimately improving stress management.
