Dr. Nolan Katz is a Licensed School Psychologist and Nationally Certified School Psychologist. He graduated from Florida State University with a PhD in School and Counseling Psychology. He completed his American Psychological Association (APA)-accredited internship at the Fort Worth Independent School District where he enhanced his assessment, counseling, and consultation skills. Dr. Katz has experience in a variety of settings including: public, private, and special needs schools, adult outpatient mental health facilities, a family resource center, several ADHD clinics, a hospital and FSU's nationally- recognized career center. He enjoys working collaboratively with local schools and colleges to develop educational plans to facilitate learning and accommodate disabilities.
Dr. Katz uses a cognitive-behavioral and client-centered approach to counseling children, adolescents, adults, and families. The aim is to help clients identify and improve unproductive thoughts and behaviors. Dr. Katz also teaches clients how to recognize and harness their strengths to realize their potential.
Professional and Community Groups
Dr. Katz enjoys professional leadership roles and local community outreach. He has previously held the position of Treasurer for Southwest Florida Association of School Psychologists (SWFASP), President and Vice President of the AFLP (www.aflpnetwork.com), and served on the board for a local nonprofit, Adonis Autism Assistance Foundation. He is a member of the American Psychological Association (APA) (www.apa.org), National Association of School Psychologists (NASP) (www.nasponline.org) , Association of Family and Conciliation Courts (AFCC) (http://www.afccnet.org), and Parenting Coordination Association of Southwest Florida.
